Cooler Master says their new fanless power supply is ready for GeForce RTX 5090

Now listed on Amazon (affiliate link) is the new X Silent Edge Platinum 850 Fanless power supply for $488 USD. At this price, it appears to offer ‘confirmed’ support for the GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card, and surprisingly, also for the GeForce RTX 5090. The product page is listed by the official Cooler Master store and orders are fulfilled by Amazon. This means that it is not a third-party listing, but an official one chosen by the company.
The power supply is rated for 850W and is 80+ Platinum certified. It features the latest 12VHWPR power connector and supports graphics cards up to 450W. It uses the new ATX 3.1 specifications and ships with one 12V-2×6 power connector, the latest spec for the so-called 16-pin power cables. Notably, users also have the option to use four PCIe 6+2 power connectors.

NVIDIA has not confirmed the specs of the RTX 5090, but rumors suggest it might use the GB202 Blackwell GPU. The RTX 5090 is also rumored to feature 24GB GDDR7 memory across a 448-bit memory bus. The power target is unclear, but some sources suggest it might be similar to the RTX 4090. Cooler Master’s assurance in supporting this unannounced model could confirm these speculations.
NVIDIA is currently expected to launch its GeForce RTX 50 series in early 2025, with the RTX 5090 and 5080 expected to be the first models to be released.
