Intel details extended warranty for Raptor Lake CPUs
The company has updated its policy and will also include processors not sold in boxes.

Intel announced that 13th and 14th Gen Core CPUs from the Raptor Lake family will receive a 2-year extended warranty. This extends the warranty to a maximum of 5 years, depending on where the processors were sold. The company has apparently changed its policy and will now also cover processors not sold in boxes, also known as tray or OEM versions.
These processors are sold by system integrators and retailers who buy them in bulk. Often, these processors are cheaper and sometimes a more popular choice for users who do not need instructions on how to install a CPU. Additionally, since the high-end Intel Core models no longer come with bundled coolers, for many of the users, there’s simply no reason to buy a boxed version.
Intel has now announced the full list of all 13th and 14th Gen Core processors that will be covered by the 2-year extended warranty. This list includes not only the KS “Special Edition,” K-unlocked, and KF-unlocked without graphics processors but also several 65W non-F and non-K parts.

Intel reiterates that the new warranty policy covers all new processors that have already been purchased globally. The company also reminds users what to do if their processors show instability symptoms:
For users who are or have previously experienced instability symptoms on their Intel Core 13th/14th Gen Desktop processors and need to initiate the exchange process:
- Boxed Processors – please contact Intel Customer Support for further assistance.
- Tray Processors – please contact your place of purchase for further assistance.
- OEM/System Integrator Intel Core 13th/14th Gen-powered desktop system – please contact your system manufacturer for further assistance.
If customers have experienced these instability symptoms on their 13th and/or 14th Gen desktop processors but were unsuccessful in prior RMAs we ask that they reach out to Intel Customer Support for further assistance and remediation.
As we enter the second week of August, Intel has yet to confirm when the supposed microcode update will be released for affected users.
