Intel says Raptor Lake microcode update will not affect overclocking and performance, new Arrow Lake/Battlemage updates

Intel makes several claims at ASUS event in China

“小敌鸽” aka Little Pigeon is a Chinese tech blogger who has shared some first-hand information in the past. This person was invited to Intel x ASUS event (said to be an internal exchange meeting) where the company provided the latest updates and this information was summarized by the blogger.

The conference’s focus was on current and next-gen CPU architectures. The company provided an update to the soon-to-be-published microcode update for Intel 13 and 14th Gen Core series known as Raptor Lake. Intel is claiming that there will be no impact on turbo boost capabilities, which should mean that clocks are to be maintained. Below is the translation from the slide above:

Performance Assurance : BIOS updates will not affect turbo frequency capabilities and will maintain the overclocking functionality for K series CPUs.
Extended Warranty : Users of 13th/14th generation i5K/KF and above processors will receive an additional two years of warranty from Intel.

The company says that the new microcode will not affect overclocking of the K-series unlocked CPUs. Intel also reiterates its assurance for extended 2-year warranty for CPUs that were already formally declared earlier.

Arrow Lake and Battlemage (Rumors?)

Now the juicy details are perhaps even more interesting. The only issue with these claims is that we have no proof (slides) to back what was allegedly said. So let’s just assume that this is an interpretation of the Pigeon who attended the event and this is what was learned:

Summary of ASUS x Intel event (translation from 小敌鸽/Little Pigeon post)

  • Arrow Lake The new generation CPUs have at least 100W lower power consumption while maintaining high frequencies. The updated process eliminates previous high voltage issues, ensuring stability.
  • Arrow Lake Performance details of the new generation are confidential but expected to be impressive.
  • Raptor Lake BIOS updates won’t impact turbo boost capabilities, reaching Intel’s claimed performance. Boxed CPUs now come with an extended five-year warranty.
  • Battlemage Intel will release new GPUs by the end of the year with significant performance improvements.
  • ASUS ASUS motherboards are highly impressive, especially the upcoming AYW series

If this summary is correct, then Intel’s upcoming CPU series is rumored to offer a 100W reduction in power consumption, also avoiding high voltage issues and potential stability concerns. Presumably this is a reference to the multithreaded workload.

Regarding graphics, the next-gen GPU architecture is expected by year-end, promising significant performance improvements according to the blogger. Various sources suggest that Intel might launch Battlemage by the end of this year or early next year, but Intel has not provided any official updates yet.

What Intel has confirmed though, is that the Raptor Lake microcode will be released in mid-August. The Arrow Lake series is expected to debut at the Innovation event in September.
