AMD Strix Point expected to debut in October, claims AOOSTAR

AMD has not yet provided APUs

Finally, some news on AMD’s new Mini-PCs.

AMD Strix Point APUs are the next-gen mobile chips powered by Zen 5 and RDNA3.5 architectures and they are already available for laptops. The initial launch only covers a small number of laptops, and there’s also uncertainty about the availability of the Ryzen AI 9 365 SKU. However, it appears that AMD prioritized premium board partners with the initial batch, with plans to increase availability later.

One of the most asked questions right now is when will AMD Strix Point launch for Mini-PCs and gaming handhelds. Both seem inevitable at this point, but to our surprise, no company has made any comments or even teasers about the new devices, although the series are already available.

It turns out that AMD is not supplying Strix Point APUs to Mini-PC makers yet, at least according to the information from AOOSTAR.

Perhaps the most important information is that the company aims to launch the new product in October and the motherboard is reportedly ready. As a friendly reminder, the board should be similar to the Phoenix & Hawk Point series, given that both APUs support the same FP8 socket.

Still, there’s no information about the purported gaming handheld launch, despite at least two companies now confirming plans to launch Intel Lunar Lake-based handhelds at some point.
