New “Compact Mode” fox Xbox Game Bar announced
Small steps for Microsoft, big leap for gamers.

Currently, the biggest drawback with Windows handhelds is the operating system itself. There are just too many settings, too many update tools, and organizing multiple game launchers is a true hassle. The Xbox application for Windows, in particular, is a never-ending pain to use, and I’ve lost count of how many times the app has simply logged me out for no reason.
The good news is that Microsoft is finally realizing that the Xbox Windows experience needs to change. The company has already introduced a Compact Mode for the app, which enables a better experience on smaller screens. Today, they also announced a Compact Mode for Xbox Game Bar.
Xbox Game Bar is perhaps one of the best gaming features in Windows. It allows users to record media, control music, get a quick look at system performance, or connect with the Xbox community. The problem is that it doesn’t work well on handhelds.

Microsoft is finally admitting that the experience needs to change, so the new Compact Mode will allow users to switch between panels using the device bumpers. Users will have easier access to widgets that show recently played games or games that are already running, similar to how a real Xbox functions.
The new feature isn’t available to everyone yet; currently, the company is collecting feedback from Xbox Insiders. However, there’s nothing stopping you from signing up for that list.
