AMD Ryzen 7000G series were a thing
Unreleased SKUs were spotted on Chinese forums, proving that AMD made a name change last minute.

AMD originally planned to release the Ryzen 5 PRO 7500G and Ryzen 3 PRO 7300G, but these processors never officially made it to market. Despite this, some units were shipped, and a few have surfaced on platforms like Chiphell. The Ryzen 3 PRO 7300G (OPN 100-000001187) and Ryzen 5 PRO 7500G (OPN 100-000001183) are essentially pre-rebranded versions of the 8300G and 8500G, respectively.
This suggests that AMD initially intended to launch these processors under the 7000G series but later rebranded them as part of the 8000G lineup. It’s unclear whether this rebranding affected all planned SKUs or just the smaller ones.
Currently, AMD’s 8000G series includes four processors: the Ryzen 7 8700G and 8600G, built on the Phoenix1 architecture, and the Ryzen 5 8500G and 8300G, based on the smaller Phoenix2 architecture. The Phoenix2 chips feature a hybrid 6-core setup (2x Zen 4 + 4x Zen 4c) and 4 RDNA3 compute units, while the Phoenix1 chips have 8-core Zen 4 processors with up to 12 RDNA3 compute units.
The rebranded 7000G processors that have appeared so far only use the smaller Phoenix2 silicon, indicating that AMD made some last-minute changes to its product lineup. This again proves that AMD made a last minute change and there were several such decisions in the last couple of months:
- Ryzen 7000G ➡️ Ryzen 8000G
- Ryzen 8000 ➡️ Ryzen 9000 (allegedly)
- AMD 700 ➡️ AMD 800 chipset (allegedly)
- Ryzen AI 100 ➡️ Ryzen AI 300
Seems like AMD product planning could really use some stability.
