AMD Ryzen 9000X3D reportedly launching at CES 2025, not next month as claimed earlier

Not as soon as expected.

New details have emerged about the upcoming Ryzen 9000X3D series, based on the Zen5 architecture and featuring additional 3D V-Cache. Contrary to earlier reports suggesting an earlier release, the series is now expected to launch at CES 2025 in January next year.

Although AMD has not officially confirmed the launch date, three separate sources have verified this updated timeline. Reliable hardware leaker HXL was the first to provide this information. Yuri “1usmus,” known for his insights into Zen5 overclocking features before AMD made them official, and Hassan Mujtaba from Wccftech, who has strong connections with board partners, have both corroborated the revised schedule.

Neither the previous nor the updated launch dates are official, so there is no confirmed delay or postponement. However, AMD has hinted that the upcoming X3D variants will feature ‘cool differentiators’.

The good news is that potential January launch would still be sooner than both 5000 and 7000 series, which came out respectively 17 and 7 months between the vanilla and 3D V-Cache equipped parts:

Ryzen X3D launch gap

  • Ryzen 5000: 17 months ( 5800X November 2020 ➡️ 5800X3D April 2022 )
  • Ryzen 7000: 7 months ( 7700X September 2022 ➡️ 7800X3D April 2023 )
  • Ryzen 9000: 6 months ( 9700X July 2024 ➡️ 9800X3D January 2025 )

The Ryzen 9000X3D series is expected to launch with at least three SKUs, maintaining the same cache sizes as previous models. New features will include enhanced overclocking capabilities and improved DDR5 memory support. The new series were also teased by ASUS just this week.

Meanwhile, gamers should look forward to Ryzen 5 7600X3D launch which is still expected next month.
