The open-source Intel Low Power Mode Daemon (LPMD) software is out with a new release for optimizing active idle power on modern Intel Core systems under Linux. The Intel LPMD daemon is able to configure the system depending upon workload, utilization, and other hints for delivering the most power efficient cores and behavior of the processor.

With Intel LPMD v0.0.8 there is new workload type proxy support, detection for AC/DC power status for applying different behavior if running on battery power, support for model/SKU-specific configuration files, Intel Meteor Lake P configuration files, and other changes.

The official LPMD 0.0.8 release highlights note:

- Introduce workload type proxy support.
- Add support for model/sku specific config file.
- Add detection for AC/DC status.
- Honor power profile daemon default EPP when restoring.
- Introduce MeteorLake-P platform specific config file.
- Minor fixes and cleanups.
