Season 2 appears to take a new turn, with Juliette’s adventures branching the heroine off into a largely separate storyline from the rest of the characters we know and love.

Fortunately, it sounds like the show’s creative team pulled this shift off with great success.

Silo began as a sci-fi show, but this season feels like so much more. There are still sci-fi elements like memory-erasing drugs, infoscreens, and complex apocalyptic lore, but they are just window-dressing for a story that is far more Julius Caesar than Fallout. Juliette is now a Che Guevara-esque folk hero, and the most fascinating element of the entire series is watching how she influences an uprising without ever being present.

A common theme throughout many reviews is the strength of Rebecca Ferguson, and Juliette’s character overall. But the reviews also praise the whole cast, including newcomer Steve Zahn.

Silo season 2 debuts on Friday, November 15 with its first episode, with weekly episode releases thereafter.

In the time since Silo season 1 dropped, I’ve read the full trilogy of Silo books. Since I now know the various plot points coming up in the show, I suspected Silo might feel different in its second season than the first. I wondered if that might lead to a slightly disappointing sophomore effort.

Ultimately, it sounds like the creative team has delivered a new season that builds on the first while still offering something new and unique. I’m thrilled and relieved to hear that.
