AMD EPYC 7003 with Zen3 architecture

We have official specifications and pricing for the new EPYC server CPUs.

Later today AMD will officially introduce its EPYC 7003 CPU series featuring Zen3 architecture. The new lineup codenamed “Milan” will not offer more cores over its predecessor based on Zen2 architecture codenamed “Rome”, but it will provide higher frequencies across the stack.

What has not changed is the maximum TDP of 280W for high-end EPYC CPUs. The 7003 series will also support quad-channel DDR4-3200 memory and offer up to 256MB of L3 Cache. The series will also have 128 PCI Gen4 lanes. Those specifications have not changed compared to “Rome”.

EPYC 7003 series will have a higher clock speed and higher price. The flagship CPU called EPYC 7763 will offer 64 cores and 128 threads with a base clock of 2.45 GHz and boost up to 3.5 GHz. It will retail at 7890 USD (price per 1000 units), which is significantly more than the previous flagship EPYC 7742 with a retail price of 6950 USD.

AMD is adding a 56-core and 112-thread CPU called EPYC 7663 as well as a 28-core EPYC 7453. The previous series did not feature such configurations. The cheapest EPYC 7003 processor is a single-socket 7313P  which is a 16-core and 32-thread CPU with a boost of up to 3.7 GHz. This CPU will retail at 913 USD.

AMD to Host Digital Launch of 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ Processors on March 15, 2021

AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) will host a digital global launch of the new 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ processors on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET.

The digital launch is slated to feature presentations by AMD President and CEO Dr. Lisa Su, Executive Vice President of Technology and Engineering and CTO Mark Papermaster, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Datacenter and Embedded Solutions Business Group, Forrest Norrod, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Server Business Unit, Dan McNamara and appearances by industry-leading data center partners and customers.

The launch will be accessible on the 3rd Gen AMD EPYC launch site starting at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET. A replay of the webcast can be accessed after the conclusion of the live stream event and will be available for one year after the event.
