Severance’s continues to set record numbers for , and as part of the ongoing marketing blitz, Ben Stiller last night. During his appearance, he revealed that a Severance guest role in season two’s premiere was originally offered to former President Barack Obama.
In the premiere, there’s a stop-motion Lumon propaganda video that involves a talking Lumon building.
It’s that Keanu Reeves was the voice of the animated building.
But now thanks to Ben Stiller, we know that one person was asked before Reeves.
Who was it?
President Barack Obama.
Stiller tells the story of how he emailed the former president through his lawyer, then got a personal response:
I get an email back from President Barack Obama saying, “Hey Ben, big fan of the show. Love season one, can’t wait for season two. Don’t think I have time in my schedule to make this happen.”
It would have been quite the get for Severance to land President Obama for the part, however small it may be.
As Stiller mentions though, perhaps he had more important things to do than voice an animated Lumon building.
You can below.
Maybe President Obama will end up clearing some time for a cameo in season 3 of Severance, which is currently in the works.
At a minimum, it’s fun to think he’s just as tuned in as the rest of us.
Did you know Keanu Reeves had voiced the Lumon building? Who else do you hope pops up into Severance by surprise? Let us know in the comments.
