US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday held a phone call discussing the Ukraine war in which they agreed that a “full ceasefire and permanent peace” would begin with a focus on “energy and infrastructure”, according to the White House.
The negotiations, which are to start immediately in the Middle East , will also include “technical negotiations on the implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea”, a White House read-out said.

During the talks, which began at 10am US Eastern time and lasted for nearly 2 ½ hours, the two leaders “stressed the need for improved bilateral relations between the United States and Russia”.

“The two leaders agreed that a future with an improved bilateral relationship between the United States and Russia has huge upside,” it added. “This includes enormous economic deals and geopolitical stability when peace has been achieved.”

The statement added that the “two leaders shared the view that Iran should never be in a position to destroy Israel ”.
