AMD Navi 24 “Beige Goby” entry-level GPU to offer 1024 cores

AMD Navi 24 gets first confirmed specs

AMD has come up with a fancy Linux name for its upcoming Navi 24 graphics processor.

“Beige Goby” is the fourth codename for AMD RDNA2 GPU in Linux drivers. Appropriate patches have been issued recently by the AMD software team. The codename does to immediately reveal which GPU it is attached to, but some advanced users were quick to realize that it lists 16MB of L3 cache. From there it was easy to connect the dots, as Navi 24 was rumored to have 16MB of Infinity Cache as well.

AMD has already released Navi 21, which is carrying a codename of “Sienna Cichlid”, as well as Navi 22 codenamed “Navy Flounder”. AMD is yet to release Navi 23 “Dimgrey Cavefish and Navi 24 “Beige Goby”. The former is expected to debut under Radeon RX 6600 series, while Navi 24 should launch as RX 6500 or 6400 series. Both of those GPUs are to launch for mobile series as well.

Oh interesting, Beige Goby appears to be Navi24.
It just has 1 SDMA engine, usually dGPUs have 2, 16MiB Infinity Cache/Last Level Cache.
128KiB L1$ is shared under 4 WGPs/8CUs.
1MB L2$.
1 Shader Engine with 2 Shader Arrays would only result in 8WGPs/16 CUs = 1024 Shader Cores. https://t.co/zJ9cbAexis

AMD Navi 24 is likely the last member of the Navi 2X family based on RDNA2 architecture. It marks an important moment when AMD releases four GPUs based on the same architecture under one series of Radeon products. This wasn’t the case in the past few years.
