An elderly couple in China have ignited controversy for raising a five-year-old daughter who was born naturally when the wife gave birth at the age of 67.

Huang Weiping, 74, lives in Shandong province in eastern China with his 72-year-old wife, Tian Xinju.

At 66, Tian suffered a stroke and began long-term medication to improve her blood circulation.

During her treatment, her menstrual cycle unexpectedly resumed, and a year later, she discovered she was pregnant, according to reports from mainland media.

The couple, who had previously lost their son to alcoholism and have an adult daughter, decided to proceed with a natural birth after receiving medical clearance.

However, their older daughter, worried about their health, strongly opposed this decision and subsequently severed ties with her father.
