Microsoft has on its YouTube channel that touts the speed of its top Copilot + PCs. Curiously though, these “top PCs” are compared against Apple’s consumer-targeted MacBook Air…from over a year ago.

The ongoing rivalry between Microsoft and Apple has always been good for entertaining ads, like the “ I’m a Mac/I’m a PC ” campaign.

Microsoft’s for its Copilot + PCs is similarly providing a lot of laughs, though for different reasons.

The short video offers a “Breaking News” alert that Microsoft’s “top Copilot + PCs” are faster than a Mac.

Which Mac? The M3 MacBook Air from over a year ago .

If you want to add some light reading to your video consumption for the day, the comments on the video are a great source of entertainment too.

Examples include:

• “Was this comically low budget ad made with Windows Movie Maker 2 and a 5 MP camera from 2003?”
• ”Your TOP pc is faster than their BASE pc A YEAR AGO? That’s not embarrassing??”
• ”This is just sad…”

Jokes aside, this isn’t the first time Microsoft has made comparisons to the M3 MacBook Air. Last time though , that was the latest Air available so it made more sense—even though a MacBook Pro would have been a more fitting equivalent.

Now that the M4 MacBook Air has been out for months, Microsoft should maybe do a better job staying on top of current releases.
