Phison at the 2025 Computex showcased its next-generation controller designed for PCI-Express Gen 6, the next interconnect that enables 64 Gbps per-lane per-direction bandwidth. The prototype controller by Phison is labeled PT1601, and was installed on a PCIe Gen 6 test bed, which allows SSD designers to test the controller with its individual flash channels, control elements, and various controller-level toggles.
We were also shown the PCI-Express 6.0 x4 digital signal. Phison not only creates the SSD controller, but also PCIe re-drivers and retimers needed to clear out the digital signal, and maintain data integrity at high speeds. On topic, the company showcased its PCIe Gen 5 re-driver and retimer solutions at Computex 2025. As a market leader, Phison offers comprehensive design and validation solutions for SSD manufacturers that include controllers, and these re-driver/retimer components, besides firmware co-development, testing, and product optimization.
