Ulf Hansson who is the Linux kernel maintainer for the MMC subsystem and related code today issued the mmc-utils 1.0 release. The mmc-utils 1.0 tool can be used for managing MMC storage devices with reading CSD registers, setting the write protect status for a device, setting write protect configurations for specified regions of a device, setting temporary write protection, setting the eMMC data sector size, enabling the eMMC BKOPS feature, enabling the eMMC hardware reset feature for a device, sending the sanitize command to a device, and reading/setting various other MMC device features.

The mmc-utils code originates back to 2012 but it's taken until today for an actual release version to be tagged in Git.
