AMD's Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX & 9965WX CPUs have been benchmarked, with the flagship absolutely destroying its predecessor in multi-threaded performance.

From the recent benchmark leaks of the flagship Shimada Peak Threadripper PRO 9995WX processor , we already knew that it is going to be noticeably faster than the Threadripper PRO 7995WX, which is its direct predecessor. However, we didn't know that the 9995WX would be such a monster, as benchmark tools such as Geekbench don't show the true prowess of such a high-core-count processor.

As posted by Chiphell's Editor, , revealing the multi-core performance of Threadripper PRO 9995WX in Cinebench R23, which is a popular benchmarking tool for processors. It scored a staggering 173,452 points, which, if you compare to the average score of the 7995WX, shows easily a 60% improvement in multi-threaded performance.

The latter remains between 100,000 to 110,000 points with the stock clocks, and while we don't know the exact core clocks at which the 9995WX was benchmarked, it will be one of the best generational uplifts we have seen so far if it was tested at the default clocks. But based on Napoleon's statement, it looks like he did enable full PBO mode, while the power consumption reached up to 840W.

In addition to the flagship, Chiphell also tested the entry-level AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9965WX, which is a 24-core and 48-thread part. This chip scored 60,336 points in Cinebench R23, which is a 22% improvement in multi-threaded score versus its predecessor, the 7965WX, and matches the 32-core Zen 4-based Threadripper 7975WX. This seems to be more on the "Default" side rather than PBO, but we can expect similar gains in MT when PBO is enabled. We used a from the same forum to represent the scores below:

Unfortunately, the single-threaded performance of the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX is not revealed in the pic, and we just can't estimate it based on some previous leaks, as the result on Cinebench R23 will be much different than on tools like Geekbench or PassMark. It should be noted that the improvements 9995WX brought over the 7995WX depend on factors like architectural improvements and higher clocks. Since both CPUs have an equal core count of 96 cores and 192 threads, AMD has succeeded in offering much higher benefits on the newer chip compared to mainstream Zen 5 CPUs.

Still, take these numbers with a grain of salt because core frequency plays a big role in Cinebench R23 as the Threadripper PRO 7995WX can break the with nitrogen cooling and a clock speed of over 6,000 MHz. Threadripper PRO 9995WX will likely do much more and should top the charts soon as it will be available for sale in a couple of days, as AMD announced 23rd July as its official retain launch date .
