AMD Ryzen 9000G To Remain on Zen 4 Despite Ryzen 9000 Moving to Zen 5

Hot on the heels of a leaked AMD Ryzen 9000 desktop roadmap , it seems as though Ryzen 9000G is now also a possibility. According to a rumor on the Chiphell forums shared by @9550pro on X , Ryzen 9000G will be a minor refresh of Ryzen 8000G, which means that we can again expect to see Zen 4 make an appearance on desktop. Meanwhile, Zen 5 APUs are expected to launch in the generation after 9000G.

This runs contrary to the AMD Ryzen 9000 non-G rumors, which claim that Zen 5 will in fact feature on the 9000-series desktop line-up when that launches. It should also be noted that the Ryzen 8000G refresh rumor is thus far uncorroborated by other information in the rumor mill, so it very well might be the case that we will see Zen 5 in Ryzen 9000G. If true, it would mean we will likely see the AMD Ryzen 9000G line-up consist of CPUs ranging from a quad-core Ryzen 3 to an eight-core Ryzen 7—however, it's possible that AMD will bump core counts to make the refresh seem like a bigger deal. It's also possible that AMD is planning a separate Zen 4 refresh for Ryzen 8000G, which would not be a surprise, given the numerous AM4 refreshes that have popped up since that platform launched.
