New Battlefield 6 Test Confirms Ryzen 9800X3D Is 30% Faster Than Core i9 14900K; However, Higher Resolution Reduces The Performance Gap

A lot of tests are being conducted to find the truth, but the latest analysis conducted by a popular benchmark channel has revealed the truth.

Since we published the initial report, which suggested that Battlefield 6 runs way better on Ryzen 9800X3D than on the Intel Core i9 14900K , a lot of benchmarks have surfaced online comparing the two best gaming CPUs from AMD and Intel. Perhaps one of the most difficult things in this comparison is analyzing the performance numbers in the same scene, which is pretty difficult in the current open Beta mode due to the lack of an option to choose a map according to your choice.

Nonetheless, Testing Games took the time to find very similar scenarios to compare both processors, which would have been a very time-consuming task. The most crucial analysis here is at 1080p, which is an appropriate resolution to see which CPU hits the ceiling first, especially because the test was conducted using the GeForce RTX 5090. We can clearly see that the game is more CPU-bound at lower resolution and responds well to Ryzen 7 9800X3D, achieving around 29% higher performance than i9 14900K.

On Ultra graphical presets, the Ryzen 9800X3D is able to handle Battlefield 6 well, offering a huge advantage while consuming nearly 40% less power. The 1% and 0.1% lows are also exceptionally well, indicating better fluidity of the gameplay. The GPU in this case is hitting 80-90% of usage with Ryzen 9800X3D, but just over 70% with the i9 14900K. In different scenes, the performance difference was a bit lower at around 25% but still big enough to see the 9800X3D's exceptional prowess over the Intel CPU.

As soon as we switch the resolution to 1440p@Ultra, the test shows that the 9800X3D is just 12% ahead of the i9. The 1% and 0.1% lows are identical as well, and the GPU in both cases is hitting >90% usage. The Ryzen 9800X3D is still consuming 40% less power than the i9 14900K. However, in another scene, the Ryzen 9800X3D doubles the performance difference with up to 23% higher frame rates and slightly better 1% and 0.1% lows.

At 4K, the performance difference is quite low, indicating the game is no longer CPU-bound and needs more GPU horsepower to push the frame rates higher. The Ryzen 9800X3D comes out 3-7% faster depending on the scenes, and while the 9800X3D is still consuming around 100-110W of power, the i9 14900K drops from nearly 170-180W to 150-160W. All in all, this sums up that Ryzen 9800X3D is indeed faster than 14900K, particularly at 1080p, where the difference can be as high as 30%.
