Lexar Releases EQ790 M.2 2280 NVMe SSD with Passive Heatsink

Lexar has introduced a new version of its EQ790 M.2 NVMe SSD now featuring a built-in passive heatsink. This updated model builds on the original EQ790 series. The SSD connects via a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 interface and features a black and red passive heatsink. The new EQ790 SSD is available with three capacities: 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB. All of these can read data at speeds up to 7 GB/s. In terms of data writing, speeds depend on capacity. The 1 TB and 2 TB models can write at speeds up to 5 GB/s, while the bigger 4 TB version can write a bit faster up to 6 GB/s.

This SSD follows the usual M.2 2280 format measuring 80 x 24 x 9.7 mm including the heatsink, and it can also fit in PS5 consoles. The 1 TB model can handle 600 TBW, the 2 TB can take 1,200 TBW, and the 4 TB can manage 2,400 TBW. All sizes are expected to operate reliably for 1.5 million hours on average. Lexar offers a five-year limited warranty; exact pricing and availability are yet to be announced.
