NVIDIA at Gamescom 2025 announced that DLSS 4 has been implemented with over 175 games. Introduced with GeForce RTX 50-series "Blackwell" generation, with select features such as the core upscaling made available to older RTX 30-series and RTX 40-series; DLSS 4 replaces the older convoluted neural network based AI models with newer Transformer based modes that are more accurate and vastly improve image quality at every performance preset of DLSS. NVIDIA needed to give DLSS this significant overhaul not just to improve image quality, but because path tracing is growing as a must-have feature in AAA titles that extensively implement ray tracing, and the added image quality makes path tracing more accessible. Resident Evil Requiem and Directive 8020 will implement path tracing and DLSS 4.
At Gamescom, NVIDIA also announced Global DLSS Overrides. Simply use the settings in the NVIDIA App to enable DLSS super resolution or multi-frame generation across hundreds of DLSS Override-ready game titles instead of needing to configure them on a per-game basis. The company also announced that it is bringing back certain highly requested legacy 3D settings such as AF, classic AA, and AO.
