Hong Kong police have launched an investigation into the death of a man who was found wounded and covered in blood under a bridge.

The force said it received a report at 6.18am on Monday that the 51-year-old was discovered on Yick Yuen Road in Tuen Mun, beneath a bridge.

He was certified dead at the scene. Police said that wounds were found on his body, but their cause and whether they were related to his death were still under investigation.

A private car with blood stains inside was also found near the scene, and police are investigating whether it was connected to the case and belonged to the man.

Local media reported that the vehicle involved was a black, seven-seat multipurpose vehicle and that the wounds on the man’s body were suspected to have been caused by a knife.
