A woman in her sixties has died and her grandson has been injured after being struck by a car in Hong Kong on Friday.

Police were alerted at 8.41am of the accident on No 32 Lee On Road, near the Shun Lee Disciplined Services Quarters.

The elderly woman and the young boy were taken to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong, police said. She was pronounced dead, while the boy sustained abrasions.

Police said the driver of the car was a woman.

Online footage showed the vehicle had a shattered windscreen and a damaged front bumper.
