Intel job description hints at high-end desktop with discrete graphics for gaming

Intel’s job description mentions high-end desktop discrete graphics

Intel Arc’s future is uncertain after the recent announcement of Intel’s deal with NVIDIA, which will bring GeForce RTX graphics into future SoCs. Jensen Huang made it clear that the partnership applies to laptops, and Intel has confirmed that its GPU architecture roadmap remains unchanged. But this still leaves questions about whether high-end Arc GPUs are still in development.

However, a new job listing from Intel suggests work on desktop discrete graphics is still ongoing. The listing specifically refers to validation and optimization for gaming performance on high-end desktop SoCs. The screenshot was shared by Haze:

Intel Silicon Architecture, Power and Performance (SiA PTP) team are seeking for a highly skilled SoC Performance Engineer to join our team specifically focused on gaming validation and optimization for client desktop products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, and you will be responsible for optimizing and validating the Gaming performance of our High-end Desktop System-on-Chip (SoC) designs focusing on dGFX Gaming performance.

What high-end Intel dGPU are they talking about? 🤓 pic.twitter.com/1tkfUs2pZV

To be precise, this only high-end desktops with dGFX for gaming, but not high-end dGFX specifically. But if we were to read between the lines, this could indicate that Intel has not given up on Arc beyond laptops, despite its partnership with NVIDIA. It also does not mention NVIDIA specifically. The job’s description clearly mentions gaming and high-end desktop systems with dGFX (discrete graphics).

Intel’s next GPU architecture, known as Xe3 and Cellestial (for desktop) has not been confirmed or reappeared on a roadmap for a long time. Intel has completely stopped sharing updates on Arc GPU development, a complete reverse strategy to what we remember from the Alchemist era.

The company is now expected to launch a high-end Arc B770 graphics card for desktop. The expectations are high, but mainly about its price, as Intel has taught us from B580/B570 launches.
