Hong Kong’s weather forecaster will cancel all typhoon warning signals at 11.20am on Thursday as Tropical Storm Ragasa continues to move away after wreaking havoc in the city.

Education authorities also announced on Thursday that afternoon kindergarten classes would resume, while morning classes remained suspended.

The Hong Kong Observatory lowered the No 3 signal to No 1 at 8.20am and said it would cancel it at 11.20am, noting that “the threat posed to [the city] by Ragasa will diminish significantly”.

But it warned that local winds were still occasionally strong offshore and on high ground, saying there would still be occasional squally showers, some heavy in certain areas, along with thunderstorms.

Ragasa, which was downgraded from super typhoon to tropical storm, triggered the highest-level No 10 hurricane warning for nearly 11 hours.
