Alphacool expands its single-slot waterblock designs to Gigabyte Gaming series
We usually do not cover waterblocks unless they are somewhat special. Alphacool has something that would match this description.
The company developed a single-slot waterblock for RTX 5090 cards. This isn’t the first nor the last such waterblock on the market, but the fact that these companies make such coolers means that they know their target and it isn’t a gamer.
Their ES GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming 1-Slot cooler is only for Gigabyte cards and only for RTX 5090 SKUs based on Gaming or Windforce series. These are the “cheapest” models in Gigabyte’s lineup, if we can even say something like that about the 5090. These waterblocks are single-slot, which means that users will be able to convert their 3.5-slot thick cards into one slot, which is quite impressive.

This cooler is clearly not aimed at the typical gamer. Instead, it is designed for users who need to fit RTX 5090 GPUs into workstations or dense server environments without sacrificing performance. Reducing a 3.5-slot card to a single slot opens up possibilities for multi-GPU configurations or compact systems where space is limited.
The limitation is that it only works with Gigabyte’s more affordable RTX 5090 models, not the high-end AORUS series. Still, these cards are among the few options available at launch that can be converted into a slimmer format, making them attractive for system builders focused on efficiency rather than aesthetics. It’s worth noting that Alphacool already developed a single-slot waterblock for RTX 5090 Founder Edition. This one, however, should be much easier to assemble since it only has one PCB.
