The Witcher 3's Final Update and Cross-Platform Mod Support Get Delayed to 2026

Previously, we reported on CD Projekt Red's confirmation that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would be getting one last hurrah before the launch of The Witcher 4, with the final update slated to introduce support for mods on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and cross-platform mods. This last update was scheduled to launch before the end of 2025, but according to a new update, those plans have been delayed.

No reason was given for the change in plans, with the game studio simply explaining that "the rollout is now shifting to 2026," and apologizing for the delay. When the cross-platform mod support update lands, it will be the only way for console gamers to access mods for The Witcher 3, however, PC players will still be able to install mods from other platforms. Ostensibly, this will be the final game update for The Witcher 3, and since there is no mention of support for Nintendo Switch mods, it's safe to assume that Switch gamers will be stuck using unofficial workarounds to convert and install mods for The Witcher 3 .
