Colorful showcases upcoming AM5 motherboards: X870E Vulcan and B850M ARK spotted in China

Colorful’s new AM5 motherboards have started appearing at local events in China, with samples of the flagship X870E iGame Vulcan and B850M CVN ARK already on display. Both designs target overclockers and bring features that have until now been mostly limited to Intel platforms.
The X870E Vulcan is Colorful’s top-end model built around the AM5 socket. It features a dual-DIMM (1DPC) memory layout optimized for high-frequency overclocking, a reinforced VRM with dual 8-pin power connectors, and five M.2 slots. One of the PCIe 5.0 x16 slots comes with a quick-release mechanism, while a small onboard display and OC buttons add more tuning options. The board on display used a black color theme, but given previous Vulcan releases, a white version is also expected.

The B850M CVN ARK, on the other hand, is an mATX board with a full design overhaul. It supports DDR5 memory up to 8000 MT/s across four DIMM slots, has a stronger VRM, WiFi 7, 2.5 GbE LAN, and an EZ-release PCIe slot. Importantly, it integrates an external clock generator, enabling real-time BCLK adjustments.
