ASUS now offers a 3-year warranty for its laptops, but it doesn’t work retroactively

ASUS ROG laptops were recently in the spotlight due to long-reported stability issues . Perhaps if it wasn’t for a community thread and a detailed analysis from one customer, ASUS would not have acknowledged the problem and released a first fix within two weeks.
Meanwhile, ASUS Germany has announced a new warranty extension program. This timing rings a bell, since just yesterday ASRock revealed a similar warranty extension for Intel and AMD 800-series motherboards. Both companies are facing product issues, but unlike ASRock, which applied the change retroactively, ASUS appears to limit its new policy only to customers buying new devices.
Only laptops produced after January 2024 are included
According to ASUS, the manufacturer’s warranty for all consumer and gaming notebooks is being increased from two to three years. The new coverage applies to devices purchased after October 1, 2025, with a manufacturing date after January 2024. The affected series include Vivobook, Zenbook, ProArt, TUF Gaming, and ROG laptops. A retroactive warranty extension for previously purchased models is not possible.
As before, the battery is excluded from the extended warranty and remains covered for 12 months only. ASUS also makes it clear that improper handling, cosmetic damage, normal wear and tear, or accessories such as cables are not covered. Software errors (hopefully just 3rd party software), theft, and loss are also outside the warranty scope.
For eligible customers, ASUS says the warranty covers manufacturing and material defects, with repairs or replacements handled at no cost. More details, including full warranty terms and conditions, are available on ASUS Germany’s website. So far no news about other ASUS HQ offering similar warranty extensions, so for now it’s not a global feature.
