Intel confirms Coyote Cove and Arctic Wolf cores for Nova Lake, Panther Cove for Diamond Rapids

Intel officially lists new CPU core architectures for next-gen CPUs

Nova Lake for client and Diamond Rapids for data-centers.

Intel has confirmed the core architectures that will power its next wave of consumer and server CPUs. The details were published in the company’s latest ISA Extensions Reference, confirming on what to expect from the upcoming Nova Lake and Diamond Rapids families. On the consumer side, Nova Lake will combine new Coyote Cove performance cores with Arctic Wolf efficiency cores, replacing the Cougar Cove and Darkmont combination that debuts with Panther Lake. T

Desktop Nova Lake-S chips are expected to scale up to 52 cores and adopt a new LGA 1954 socket, while HX mobile versions could ship with as many as 28 cores. Both desktop and mobile platforms are scheduled for release in the second half of 2026, setting the stage for competition against AMD’s Zen 6 CPUs.

For servers, Intel confirmed that Diamond Rapids Xeon processors will use Panther Cove P-cores , and only such cores because they do not have Efficient cores in their design. Early leaks point to configurations with well over 100 cores, though these first-generation chips will not support simultaneous multithreading. Intel has already acknowledged that SMT will return with the follow-up Coral Rapids platform after feedback from datacenter partners.

At the entry level (low power), Intel also revealed Wildcat Lake, a successor to Twin Lake, which will pair Cougar Cove P-cores with Darkmont E-cores.
