Intel to detail Panther Lake architecture next week, specs and performance reportedly in 2026

Upcoming October 9 embargo reportedly only covers architecture details of Panther Lake

We return to the topic of the upcoming October 9 embargo, teased by a leaked slide from Intel Tech Tour 2025. This week, Intel has invited tech press and analysts to present its latest consumer and data-center products currently in development. The company has already confirmed that the event will include a presentation on its next client CPU architecture, codenamed Panther Lake.

Unfortunately, it seems that the scope of this disclosure is smaller than expected. Intel is not sharing SKU specifications or performance data, claims Golden Pig Upgrade, a well-known hardware leaker with a solid track record. Such details are reportedly expected only after or during CES 2026.

The upcoming embargo will cover only the architectural analysis, meaning Intel will reveal changes to the Performance and Efficient cores and discuss Xe3 graphics for the first time, as Panther Lake is the first product to feature them.

If we were to speculate, Intel may have already shown information not covered by this embargo, such as full silicon specifications instead of individual SKUs or NPU performance demonstrations using engineering samples without final branding.

Intel Tech Tours are also not one-off events tied to a single embargo. Attendees often share new information for weeks afterward, so it is possible that some details will remain under embargo until January.

In a new video of Talking Tech, Intel mentions Panther Lake multiple times, but never in great details. Intel frames Panther Lake as the next step of its hybrid design: improved P-cores and faster E-cores, a low-power island for background and media tasks, and tighter power management. The aim is to keep everyday work on the low-power island, avoid waking the main compute fabric, and save energy. Intel says Thread Director and OS scheduling have been tuned again for Panther Lake, building on the “zones” model Microsoft uses to keep work on the most efficient cores until heavier loads demand migration.

Compared to Lunar Lake, Intel says OEMs will get a more PC-centric platform while users should see the same long battery life with more performance, throughput, and capability for complex workloads. Intel also repeats that E-core speed keeps rising while holding efficiency, and that Panther Lake integrates the scheduling and power hints to balance responsiveness with power use across laptops.
