Radeon vs GeForce in Australia
Hardware Unboxed shares information from retailers on GPU brand popularity for the latest NVIDIA and AMD series

Australian tech review channel Hardware Unboxed has revealed new sales data for GeForce and Radeon GPUs. The information comes from their contacts within major Australian retailers, not from official on-the-record sources. While this data does not represent global sales, it provides an interesting look at how popular each brand is in this market.
Since launch, RTX 50 series cards have accounted for 56% of all sales , while Radeon RX 9000 series cards hold a 44% share . These figures only cover the newest series, if older models like RTX 40 and RX 7000 were included, the numbers would differ. Hardware Unboxed noted that RTX 40 cards were more popular than RX 7000 and that RTX 4060 models are still selling well.
The channel also shared more specific comparisons between individual SKUs:
Radeon RX 9070 XT vs GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
“Retailer told me that in the last 6 months, they’ve sold just over 200% more 9070 XTs than 5070 Ti. And in the last 30 days, they’ve sold roughly double the Radeon GPU, so 9070 XT over 5070 Ti. […] Here in Australia, speaking with a few different people, 9070 XT has heavily outsold 5070 Ti.”
Radeon RX 9060 XT vs GeForce RTX 5060 Ti
“To date, the Australian retailers have sold twice as many, so 100% more 9060 XT series GPUs than they have 5060 Ti. […] So 9060 XT has been way more popular than 5060 Ti here in Australia.”
Radeon RX 9070 vs GeForce RTX 5070
“And the 9070 versus 5070 comparison is more wishy-washy because they use the 5070 Ti in a lot of system integration stuff. But even taking that into account, they have sold 70% more 9070 non-XT over 5070 . In the last 3 months, they noted that 5070s have started to come back. In the last 30 days, for example, the 9070 has sold 20% better.”
Steve noted that this is a changing situation, and RX 9070 sales may improve further once prices drop below 1,000 AUD. Meanwhile, the RTX 5070 is expected to receive a “SUPER” refresh next year, possibly within four to six months if current rumors are accurate.
NVIDIA AIBs offer nearly six times more custom cards than AMD partners
Despite selling above MSRP, AMD appears to have executed its pricing and availability strategy effectively to gain share in this region. However, AMD still trails NVIDIA in the number of available custom designs. Based on our database , the entire Radeon RX 9000 lineup includes around 150 custom models (many limited to China).
In comparison, NVIDIA already has 127 custom RTX 5090 models (including “D” and “V2” versions), 136 RTX 5080 variants, and over 870 custom designs across all RTX 50 series SKUs, almost six times more than AMD’s offerings.
