AMD launches Ryzen Embedded 9000 series: Ryzen Embedded 9950X3D is 170W CPU with 16 Zen5 cores and 128MB L3 Cache

AMD launches Ryzen Embedded 9000 series, PRO series with 10 year support coming this year

AMD has introduced the new Ryzen Embedded 9000 series, a lineup derived from its Ryzen 9000 desktop processors but customized for industrial PCs, automation systems, and machine vision applications. These chips are designed to deliver long-term availability and durability required for embedded and industrial markets, offering up to seven years of guaranteed product lifecycle support.

The lineup mirrors AMD’s mainstream desktop models, including the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X3D, 9900X, Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X . Clock speeds and core configurations are identical to their consumer counterparts, with up to 16 cores, 32 threads, and 5.7 GHz boost frequencies. AMD also retains its 3D V-Cache technology on select SKUs, providing up to 128 MB of L3 cache for workloads that benefit from extra cache capacity.

Like the desktop Ryzen 9000 series, these processors use the Zen 5 architecture built on a 4 nm process, with support for DDR5 memory and PCIe Gen 5 connectivity. Integrated RDNA 2 graphics are available on select models, eliminating the need for discrete GPUs in visualization and control systems. More importantly, they are based on AM5 socket, so maybe they will work on consumer hardware?

Of course, “Embedded” indicates that these CPUs are aimed at long-lifecycle, reliability-critical environments such as industrial automation, medical systems, or robotics. Unlike standard desktop parts, they are guaranteed to remain supported for years, ensuring component consistency across production runs. AMD also plans to introduce Ryzen PRO Embedded SKUs later this year, extending support up to ten years and adding enterprise-grade security and management features.

Ryzen PRO embedded SKUs, expected to be available later this year, will extend support even further, with up to 10 years of product availability and reliability .

I guess this means the AM5 socket will be here for a loooong time.
