Intel says Panther Lake’s Xe3 graphics “will set a new standard”

Intel talks Xe3 graphics

Intel Fellow Tom Petersen has reappeared to discuss the company’s next-generation graphics architecture.

We are probably just hours away from Intel’s official unveiling of the Panther Lake architecture, at least according to recent leaks. Last month, Intel hosted a Tech Tour event for media, showcasing and discussing the upcoming Core Ultra 300 series for laptops.

The new video, titled “The Road to Panther Lake Graphics,” doesn’t go into detail about Panther Lake itself. Instead, host Alejandro and Tom Petersen review Intel’s progress in graphics development over the past several years and explain the company’s long-term direction for its GPU technologies.

Unfortunately, the discussion focuses only on integrated graphics, not discrete GPUs such as the rumored Arc B770, and it doesn’t confirm the future of Intel’s Arc series.

Still, the interview provides some very short data into Intel’s priorities, particularly its focus on AI integration within upcoming graphics and CPU designs.

Larger investments are coming in both graphics and AI. The world is becoming more visual, and AI adoption is accelerating faster than any previous technology. Intel is responding by integrating these capabilities deeper into its upcoming products.”

— Tom Petersen, Intel Fellow

Intel has not yet shared performance figures or specifications, but promises to reveal more details closer to the Panther Lake launch, expected in early 2026.

“The graphics in Panther Lake will set a new standard — not only for Intel but for the industry as a whole. We’ll share more details as the launch approaches.”

— Jim Johnson, GM and VP of Intel Client Computing Group

As far as rumors suggest, Panther Lake chips may include up to 12 Xe3 cores, a low-power variant of the upcoming discrete Celestial GPU. Given Intel’s focus on efficiency and architectural refinements, we can expect further improvements in power management and performance per watt compared to Xe2 and Battlemage.
