ASRock confirms B850 motherboards to directly support “Future Zen 6 CPUs”

ASRock confirms 800-series motherboards Zen6 support

I guess it’s an open secret now.

First, it was MSI who confirmed that their new overclocking board is “future CPU ready.” Then yesterday, ASUS explicitly confirmed Zen 6 support for its B850 AYW motherboard, and now ASRock has made a similar statement. What all three have in common is that AMD has not confirmed anything, yet three board partners have either suggested or directly confirmed that Zen 6 will be supported on the AM5 socket.

ASRock published a short video on the Chinese platform Bilibili showcasing several mid-range motherboards. The otherwise boring video included one key detail: these boards are “Zen 6 ready.” Specifically, the message appears midway through the video, stating, “Future Zen 6 CPUs can also be used directly.” This suggests that ASRock may not even need a BIOS update.

The Ryzen 10000 series (assuming AMD maintains its naming logic) would be the third Zen architecture supported on the AM5 socket. The 600- and 800-series motherboards already support Ryzen 7000 (Zen 4), Ryzen 8000 (Zen 4), and Ryzen 9000 (Zen 5) CPUs, meaning support will now extend to a fourth generation, already more than Intel offers with its LGA-1851 and even LGA-1700 sockets.

ASRock may not be the safest choice for the AM5 platform, however, as its 800-series motherboards have reportedly caused failures of numerous Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs without a clear explanation so far.
