Humbird 3: slim Thunderbolt 5 eGPU dock adds wireless charging and modular expansion
The new Humbird 3 brings a fresh approach to desktop Thunderbolt 5 docks with a slim, modern aluminum chassis and an integrated wireless charging pad for phones and smartwatches. It’s powered by Intel’s JHL9480 controller, supporting up to 120 Gbps bandwidth, and serves as both a high-speed I/O hub and an external GPU enclosure.

Unlike most Thunderbolt 5 docks, the Humbird 3 includes a PCIe 4.0 slot for GPUs, an M.2 NVMe bay for up to 32 TB of SSD storage, and a 5 GbE Ethernet port. The unit also offers flexible power configurations with three power supply options, a 180 W adapter for I/O use, 300 W for light GPU setups, and a 500 W GaN PSU for high-end graphics cards (up to RX 9070 XT or RTX 5080). Note, marketing slides incorrectly name support for up to RTX 5080 Ti.

While the standard package includes the lower-wattage adapters, users planning to pair the dock with flagship GPUs will need the 500 W GaN cable PSU, sold separately for $129, so what this means is it will cost you more than $448 ($319 for dock and $129 for PSU).

The dock also features a 0.99-inch status display, two USB-A 10 Gbps ports, DisplayPort 2.1 output with 8K@60 Hz support, and a UHS-II SD + microSD reader. At just 22 mm thick and 580 grams, it’s designed to blend with modern desks. However, note that it has no bracket support, your card will literally sit on the PCIe slot, hoping no one tips it over.
