Atari revives Intellivision with new “Intellivision Sprint” console
I can’t say I remember this console firsthand, my gaming memories start about a decade later, but it’s clear there’s a growing trend of reviving classic systems with a modern twist. Nostalgia sells, and Atari knows it, since this is not their first such systems.

The company is bringing back one of its oldest rivals with the Intellivision Sprint, a refreshed version of the console that once challenged the Atari 2600 and kicked off what became known as the first console war. The original system gained attention for its realistic sports and strategy titles, sharper visuals, and its unusual controller that combined a disc input with a numeric keypad.

The new model celebrates 45 years of Intellivision with 45 preloaded games, HDMI output, and two wireless, rechargeable controllers modeled after the original design. Each game includes redesigned, double-sided overlays that show the control layout, while a USB-A port adds support for original Intellivision II controllers (via adapter) and can load more games sold separately.

Preorders for the Intellivision Sprint are live now, with shipments expected in early December 2025. The bundle includes the console, two controllers, 48 overlays, an HDMI cable, and a USB power adapter (AC adapter not included). The system is priced at $149.
