As covered back in August, a Logitech G13 Linux support patch was posted for the G13 with its 25 programmable keys, mini joystick, and other functionality. There had been out-of-tree support for the Logitech G13 via the open-source community but now this patch is working its way to rhe mainline Linux kernel.
This Logitech G13 support is being tacked onto the HID subsystem's hid-lg-g15 driver that was initially designed for the Logitech G15 gaming keyboard and being extended to other Logitech gaming devices.
Queued into the HID subsystem's "for-next" Git branch is this patch adding that G13 support. With it now being in the HID for-next Git branch, it's expected to be submitted for the Linux 6.19 merge window once the cycle kicks off in December.
"The Logitech G13 is a gaming keypad with general-purpose macro keys, four LED-backlit macro preset keys, five "menu" keys, backlight toggle key, an analog thumbstick, RGB LED backlight, and a monochrome LCD display.
Support input event generation for all keys and the thumbstick, and expose all LEDs."
Sometimes mainline Linux kernel support takes a little -- or in this case, a lot -- longer than anticipated especially with consumer hardware support where the vendor doesn't engage in enabling the Linux hardware support.
My Logitech G13 is long gone but it was a neat little device for gamers. If you don't have one, the only Logitech G13 listings I am seeing these days are for used/pre-owned G13 with a price rather high in the $130~170 space.
