Minisforum for G1 (Pro) compact Gaming PC with RTX 5060 discrete GPU to launch end of November

Minisforum details G1/G1 Pro gaming compact gaming PC with RTX 5060

Minisforum has shared a press release about Japan IT Week, where the company presented the MS-S1 Max and MS-S2 Ultra, both of which we have already covered in detail. What caught my attention, however, is the update on the G1 series, a high-end compact gaming PC first shown several months ago.

The specifications were updated last week (listed as version 3.2) and confirm there are now two models featuring Dragon Range APUs: Ryzen 9 8945HX and 8940HX, both 16-core Zen 4 CPUs. If you don’t mind a 100 MHz lower boost clock, you can save some money on the CPU. Minisforum has not confirmed pricing yet, but we have asked for an update.

The G1 system is essentially a thick, laptop-sized gaming PC, probably the closest you can get to an actual console, as it somewhat resembles a smaller PS5. It supports several upgrade options for memory and storage, though the CPU and GPU are not upgradeable. That’s unfortunate, as the GPU is not top-tier, but at least it’s a desktop RTX 5060 with a 145 W TDP , meaning a large portion of the 350 W PSU power is dedicated to graphics.

Speaking of the PSU, unlike most laptops and mini-PCs, the G1 has a built-in power supply. This greatly reduces cabling and makes the system slightly more portable, though it still weighs 3.8 kg.

In terms of configuration, Minisforum plans to offer five memory options, all running at 5200 MHz (presumably SO-DIMM). The storage configuration lists a maximum 1 TB SSD, but the system has two M.2 slots available. There will also be three performance modes: 80 W, 90 W, and 100 W, producing 40 dB, 44 dB, and 52 dB of fan noise respectively.

Interestingly, the media kit includes a review guide, suggesting the G1 has already been sent to some outlets for testing. We asked about pricing and release date and the only information we got is that this system will be released at the end of November.
