AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 officially launches October 27 for $1,299 retail

AMD finally confirms Navi 48 with 32GB workstation retail launch

It was a bumpy and slow launch through OEMS, but finally reaching retailers.

If you have been holding off the purchase of the Radeon AI PRO R9700, then we have some good news. AMD has just confirmed that this workstation GPU will be released on October 27th for the DIY market. The card has already been available through OEMs and system integrators for about three months.

AMD has also confirmed the official MSRP of $1,299, which is slightly higher than some of the earlier system listings. This price doesn’t look great for this model, and a quick correction is likely once cards start appearing in larger quantities.

The Radeon AI PRO R9700 is based on the Navi 48 GPU and represents AMD’s first professional model built on the RDNA4 architecture. It features 32GB of GDDR6 memory across a 256-bit interface, doubling the capacity of the Radeon RX 9070 XT gaming card. AMD rates the card at 300W TBP, powered by dual 8-pin connectors, and equipped with four DisplayPort 2.1 outputs.

This model also introduces AMD’s new Radeon AI PRO branding, which shifts focus toward AI and data-centric users rather than traditional workstation professionals. The blower-style cooling design makes it suitable for multi-GPU systems and compact workstation builds, and AMD has already demonstrated configurations with up to four R9700 cards running simultaneously.

We have covered many ‘custom’ variants of this graphics card, most of which are using the same or similar blower cooling system. This SKU was long rumored to be the Radeon RX 9080 XT or something along those lines, as the first Navi 48 GPU with 32GB card, but it looks like AMD chose to make it a premium workstation model instead. However, the fact that they allow board partners to customize this model definitely means that it’s not a normal workstation launch as before.

So are you going to grab PRO R9700 when they become available next week?
