AMD Ryzen 10 and Ryzen 100 series announced, Zen3+/Zen2 rebrands and rebrand of rebrands for laptops and desktops
AMD naming gets new level of confusion.
AMD’s product naming is now even more confusing. After the company added “AI” to the Ryzen branding, the lineup became harder to follow. Following the launch of the Ryzen 8000 series, the expected next step for laptops would have been the Ryzen 9000 series. However, AMD reserved the 9000 name for desktops, while laptops are now receiving the Ryzen 300 series branding.
The first reports about laptop rebranding started with Ryzen 100, then 200, and eventually 300-series names. The Ryzen 300 series covers Strix Point and Krackan APUs, while the Ryzen 200 series is for Hawk Point/Phoenix.
AMD also planned to use Ryzen 100 , but they were not released until now. Turns out they the series now exist and they refer to Zen3+ parts originally known as Rembrandt. And because AMD already has X000 and X00 series, the company is also introducing the Ryzen 10 series f or low-end Mendocino chips. These are Zen2-based processors originally designed for entry-level systems such as Chromebooks.

The top Ryzen 100 model, Ryzen 7 170, appears to sit between the Ryzen 7 6800U and 6800H. It has a 28W default TDP similar to U-series parts but retains boost clocks closer to the H-series. This is an 8-core Zen3+ CPU with Radeon 680M graphics, which remain unchanged. Ryzen 100 processors support the FP7-R2 socket and DDR5 memory.
The Ryzen 10 lineup consists of 4-core Zen2 CPUs with LPDDR5 memory support. Ryzen 3 30 and Ryzen 3 40 both feature Radeon 610 graphics with two Compute Units.
I don’t expect to hear much about these CPUs, looks like AMD is giving the last living breath to its old SKUs which are rebadged to upsell some ancient laptops. Still, we all remember AMD’s marketing efforts to promote the brand-new 7000 mobile naming, they even made cool name spinners to make things easy to understand, and yet they are rebranding a rebrand. Some Ryzen 100 SKUs are using near-identical specs to SKUs that were already refreshed (Ryzen 6800H -> 7735H).
