Battlefield REDSEC launches alongside Battlefield 6 Season 1, free to play
Call of Duty Warzone finally has competition.

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have released Battlefield REDSEC, a free-to-play title built around Battle Royale, the squad-based Gauntlet mode, and new ways to use Portal. REDSEC goes live together with Battlefield 6 Season 1. The action takes place on Fort Lyndon, a destructible California playspace.
Battle Royale in REDSEC supports up to 100 players on Fort Lyndon with class-based play, scavenging, contracts, and a lethal closing ring. A separate Battle Royale Initiation playlist targets new players on a condensed southeast section of the map, capped at 48 players including bots and restricted to newcomers.

Gauntlet is a round-based competitive mode with eight squads of four. Teams rotate through short missions with five-minute timers and score by completing objectives, earning kills, and reviving teammates. A reassignment system can move top performers into active squads if others leave, keeping matches full.
Portal tools are available inside REDSEC to create or discover custom experiences on Fort Lyndon. Players can adjust rules and logic with scripting and share modes with the community.
Progress carries over between REDSEC and Battlefield 6 on the same EA account. Shared items include career rank, weapon and gadget unlocks, attachments, vehicle loadout items, cosmetics, badges, and Battle Pass progress. Cross-progression works across linked platforms.
Season 1 starts today in three phases. Rogue Operations is live with three new weapons, the Blackwell Fields map set in Southern California, and Strikepoint, a 4v4 one-life mode on a single capture point. California Resistance arrives November 18 with a new suburban map and Sabotage mode. Winter Offensive lands December 9 with seasonal content. Battlefield 6 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, EA App, and Epic Games Store.
