Intel Nova Lake LGA1954 Socket Keeps Cooler Compatibility with LGA1851: Thermaltake
A leaked product installation guide by Thermaltake confirms that Intel's upcoming desktop socket for its Core Ultra 400 series "Nova Lake-S" processors, the LGA1954, will retain cooler compatibility with the current LGA1851 and previous LGA1700. This was rumored as far back as May 2025, but now has confirmation from a major CPU cooler manufacturer. This means you should be able to reuse your CPU coolers purchased as far back as 2021 for your 12th Gen Core "Alder Lake" build, with your future "Nova Lake" build. The LGA1954 socket and package is expected to have similar physical dimensions to current Intel desktop chips, with the company increasing socket pin counts by reducing the size of the contact points, and making the island—the central region of the land grid that has some SMDs—smaller.
