MSI Afterburner beta with improvements for voltage/frequency curves

MSI Afterburner developer Alexey “Unwinder” Nicolaychuk has begun work on version 4.6.7, following a short break after the release of version 4.6.6. The first beta is expected soon, introducing several usability improvements to the voltage/frequency (V/F) curve editor. Users will now be able to adjust the default size of V/F nodes through the configuration file and zoom the work area between 100% and 500% using the mouse wheel, with node sizes scaling accordingly. The editor also gains panning support by holding the right mouse button and dragging, while pressing the V key resets zoom and pan to the default view.

Other refinements include expanded functionality for linear interpolation mode (Ctrl + drag), which can now be applied to selected node ranges, using the farthest node as an anchor. Additionally, the Alt + drag mode, used to move the curve while preserving per-point offsets, now works with selections. These updates make the V/F curve editor more flexible, accessible, and efficient for advanced users.

What’s also interesting is that Unwinder is working on new hardware support, and by that, he means a new class of MSI hardware products. An engineering sample has already arrived, suggesting it’s not a retail or available product yet, but several assumptions can be made.

Perhaps the most fitting possibility is a gaming handheld. The Claw series runs Windows and would benefit from deeper integration with Afterburner, even though these systems already include MSI Center software. Since the Claw series is based on AMD Ryzen APUs, this could also mean expanded support for RDNA3.5 and newer GPUs.
Another possibility is closer integration with motherboards or power supplies, potentially allowing more accurate GPU power measurement.
