ASUS launches ROG XG Mobile (2025) with Thunderbolt 5 and RTX 50 Series GPUs starting at $1,299

ASUS has officially released the ROG XG Mobile (2025), the company’s first external GPU to use a Thunderbolt 5 interface instead of its older proprietary connector. The new model brings wider compatibility across laptops and mini PCs while keeping the compact form factor that made the XG Mobile series stand out (also because of the price).

The 2025 version is available with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, featuring up to 16–24 GB of GDDR7 memory and a 150 W TGP. It weighs just under 1 kg, comes with a 330W power adapter (which is built-in), and offers several ports, including Thunderbolt 5 (in/out), HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1, 2× USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A, 2.5 Gb Ethernet, and a UHS-II SD card reader. The new copper vapor chamber and MOSFET-based power design improve thermal efficiency and reduce weight compared to previous models.
