AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT finally reaches $599 MSRP in the US, eight months after launch

AMD RX 9070 XT finally at $599

Hard to believe it took this long.

The Radeon RX 9070 graphics card series launched on March 6 were an immediate success given their price and performance. Unfortunately, AMD surprised gamers and reviewers by announcing artificial MSRPs for the new Navi 48 models that wouldn’t appear for weeks in the case of the RX 9070 and months for the RX 9070 XT.

Today marks the first time the RX 9070 XT is available at its official $599 MSRP in the US. It’s not the first region where it reached that price, but it highlights how little AMD did to address the issue.

As a reminder, the RX 9070 XT was never released as a reference design, meaning there was no way to buy it directly from AMD at MSRP, unlike NVIDIA’s Founders Edition models. Instead, the responsibility was left entirely to board partners, while AMD claimed it would “encourage” them to launch more MSRP models. That encouragement never seemed to happen, and AMD’s attention quickly shifted to data center and Ryzen CPU announcements.

With the holiday season approaching, AMD now appears to realize that RTX 50 cards – soon to receive SUPER variants – are getting cheaper. It seems the company has started to push partners again, resulting in the first RX 9070 XT listings at MSRP.

The RX 9070 non-XT has been available at MSRP for a few weeks now:

Who knows how many more cards AMD could have sold if it had delivered on its MSRP promise sooner. With months gone since launch, no sign of FSR Redstone, and uncertainty around driver support, many gamers are likely turning to competitors.
