Second Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT suffers burned 12V-2×6 connector

There are now three known cases of burned RX 9070 XT cards with 12V-2×6 connector

A new report on Reddit describes another Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card with a burned 12V-2×6 power connector. This is now the third known case involving RX 9070 XT models equipped with the 16-pin connector, and the second time it has affected a Sapphire card. Only two manufacturers, Sapphire and ASRock, used this connector design on their custom Navi 48 cards. The first case involved ASRock Taichi model , while the second last month affected a Sapphire model .

The latest incident again involves a Sapphire Nitro+ card. According to the owner, the connector appears burnt, and the GPU now causes random black screens under load, forcing a hard reboot. While the system still powers on, the symptoms suggest contact damage at the connector, likely from heat buildup or partial melting.

It has been eight months since the RX 9070 XT launch, and these failures may become more common over time as thermal cycling and poor pin alignment take their toll. Many of these connectors degrade gradually before showing visible damage or causing stability issues.

The user noted that the card was received as a gift, which may complicate RMA approval. Sapphire has requested a purchase receipt to process the claim, and warranty coverage could depend on whether the original buyer can provide proof of purchase.
