AMD issues yet another confirmation: RDNA1 and RDNA2 to receive game optimizations alongside RDNA3 and RDNA4

Honestly, I’ve lost count of how many “clarifications” AMD has issued after a single driver release. The original statements, instead of explaining the changes, only created more confusion, and each follow-up still lacked the clarity needed to reassure gamers.
Hardware Unboxed reached out to AMD for another clarification, which ultimately confirms that RDNA2 and RDNA1 GPUs will both receive game optimizations at the same time as RDNA3 and RDNA4 series.
Hardware Unboxed: Will RDNA1/2 GPUs receive game support and optimizations at the same time as RDNA3/4 GPUs for new releases?
For example, when titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, Resident Evil Requiem, and Crimson Desert launch, will the first driver supporting these games include optimizations for all RDNA generations (1, 2, 3, and 4) simultaneously?
Official AMD response (in writing): “Yes, game optimizations and support for all RDNA Series 1 through 4 will roll out at the same time in both driver packages — including but not limited to Call of Duty, Crimson Desert, and Resident Evil.”
The media suggests AMD may not have planned it this way initially, and the confusion among gamers was understandable after AMD’s driver notes literally mentioned “new game support” only for RDNA3 and RDNA4. The backlash appears to have had an effect, though it raises the question of whether AMD really needs two separate driver branches now or if it would be simpler to maintain one unified version.
Some comments we saw pointed out that the upcoming Call of Duty release (launching in 11 days) will be the first test of RDNA2 ‘game ready’ optimizations. If AMD’s statement is accurate, RDNA2 and RDNA1 users shouldn’t worry about Black Ops 7, it will be supported, as will Crimson Desert (March 2026) and Resident Evil Requiem (February 2026).

AMD has confirmed to us in writing that RDNA1/2 will still receive game optimizations AT THE SAME TIME as RDNA3/4. So this should put the issue to rest, and if this does end up being the case they probably should have just said this and cut the BS.
