The new console launched on June 5, and sold over 3.5 million units in its first four days, making it one of Nintendo’s fastest-selling systems to date. The company’s latest report also notes that the original Switch continues to sell, now at 154.01 million units lifetime.

Nintendo expects the upcoming holiday season to further boost Switch 2 sales and has slightly adjusted software expectations to 48 million units for the current fiscal year. As of the latest update, the Switch 2 is tracking ahead of both the Wii U and 3DS launches, showing a strong start for Nintendo’s new generation platform.
The Switch 2 is powered by an NVIDIA system-on-chip powered by Ampere architecture , paired with 16 GB LPDDR5 memory and support for 4K output in docked mode. It is Nintendo’s first console to fully utilize AI-based upscaling (previously there was only AMD FSR support). Since NVIDIA does not disclose sales figures for its GeForce products, the Switch 2’s performance technically makes it the most popular NVIDIA-powered device from this year’s launches.
